Why do phone labels and notes break when moving contacts from spreadsheets to phones?

Excel does not understand contact relationships. Labels like mobile, work, or home are just text unless explicitly mapped. When importing spreadsheet contacts directly, phones often misread these fields or drop them entirely. Notes and addresses are also affected because Excel allows unrestricted formatting, including line breaks and symbols that phones cannot parse. VCF files preserve these relationships using defined attributes, which prevents contact data loss. This is why phone labels survive better in contact files than spreadsheets. Many users choose Softaken Excel to VCF Converter because it allows previewing and mapping contact fields correctly before export, ensuring labels and notes remain intact after mobile import.
